CNN’s Money.com banks on OnBoard’s Custom Shop Information to create “Best Places” list
One hundred locations selected based on wide-ranging criteria
New York, New York, July 14, 2007 — Today, of millions of Americans clicked their way through www.CNNmoney.com’s top 100 “Best Places to Live“ report -- a vivid repeat of last year’s traffic typhoon of 25,000,000 visits in the first day of publication. OnBoard, LLC, the leading provider of local information on homes, schools and places of interest, partnered with CNN Money to produce the report.
“This is our fifth year working with the CNN Money team to create the Best Places report” said OnBoard CEO Marc Siden. “The tremendous popularity of this report demonstrated how much consumers value great local information and it is relationships such as the one we have with CNN Money that allow us to bring it to life for them.”
Building the list of “100 Best Places to Live” is not an overnight task. It began months earlier when CNN Money sat down with OnBoard and went over their detailed criteria. OnBoard’s “Custom Shop” – the company’s crack team of in-house local information experts – quickly went to work applying them to their vast store of information on communities coast to coast using its proprietary analytical methodologies.
Criteria excluded places that have populations above 7,500 and under 50,000; places where income is less than 90% or more than 180% of the state median; places and towns that are more than 95% white; places with low education scores, high crime rates, declines or sharp increases in population, projected job losses or lack of access to airports or teaching hospitals; and places that rank high as retirement-oriented.
This list fuels interest and inspires homeowners to learn more about communities, some of which they have never heard of before. From there, consumers head out onto the Web searching local websites.
“This is exactly what we’re about” Marc Siden offered. “Helping our clients help consumers learn more about one of America’s favorite pastimes – real estate.”
